WORTHY OF A SECOND CHANCE

“I now have a dream, and that is to become a lawyer,” said Jan Randyll Querebuin, 21 years old, a former child in conflict with the law (CICL).

Banking on the learnings that he gained from his past mistakes, his readiness to reintegrate into his community, and the second chance given by the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (JJWA), Jan Randyll now has great plans for his future.

But before he was able to envision himself achieving something big, he was just a carefree young individual, with no clear dreams. All that mattered to him was to have fun.

At the age of 15 years old, he was involved in the illegal drug trade and was charged with homicide.

This incident led him to be placed under the care of the Regional Rehabilitation Center for Youth (RRCY) for 10 months where he learned discipline and respect. He was also capacitated with various skills and even became part of the musical band of the center.

“The juvenile justice law gave me and other CICL the opportunity to prove to everyone that there is a chance for us to rebuild our lives and become successful individuals,” he said.

Currently, he is a call center agent and is planning to take up Political Science as a preparation for law school.

For Jan Randyll, sa Juvenile Justice Law, kaisa siya sa pagkamit ng pagbabago.
